Biden Arrives at Walter Reed Hospital by Helicopter for Medical Tests

President Joseph Biden was having a regular medical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Thursday, an occasion that is being closely monitored as the oldest president in history prepares for a reelection campaign.

The president arrived to Walter Reed by chopper and checked in at 9:15 a.m. for a battery of testing.

Biden, 80, last had a routine medical test in November 2021.

During his five-hour-plus appointment, he had blood, physical, gastrointestinal, dental, visual, and neurological testing.

After that, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s primary care physician since 2009, wrote a six-page statement describing Biden as “healthy, vigorous,” and deemed him “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.”

Numerous individuals, including Democrats, have raised concerns about Biden running for re-election in 2024.

According to a recent Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research study, only 37% of Democrats believe Biden should run for reelection, down from 52% prior to last year’s midterm elections.

Overall, 22% of adults in the United States believe he should run again.

Follow-up conversations with survey respondents revealed that Biden’s age was a key worry.

Others noticed his coughing, a heightened sense of fragility in his movement, and misspoken phrases.

A neurological assessment performed at Biden’s 2021 physical revealed nerve damage in his hands and feet, which had contributed to his rigid walk.

He walked more gingerly due to spinal arthritis and compensate for a fractured foot.

In 2021, Biden had a colonoscopy, during which a 3 millimeter “benign-appearing polyp” was detected and removed.

When asked about his age and capacity to be president in a recent PBS interview, Biden answered with what has become his standard line: “Watch me. It’s all I can say.”

Biden tested positive for COVID-19 in July and had “very mild symptoms,” according to the White House.
